NCCER's Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning curriculum was designed to present both theoretical and practical skills to trainees. Students learn foundational skills technicians need to safely install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair multiple facets of residential, commercial, and industrial HVAC systems.

Topics covered include the following:
  • Introduction to HVAC
  • Trade Mathematics
  • Basic Electricity
  • Introduction to Heating
  • Introduction to Cooling
  • Introduction to Air Distribution Systems
  • Basic Copper and Plastic Piping Practices
  • Soldering and Brazing
  • Basic Carbon Steel Piping Practices
Length: 120 Course Hours

Prerequisite:  NCCER Core certification

Potential Certifications:  Upon successful completion of all modules in the curriculum, students will receive the National Center for Construction Education & Research HVAC Level One certification. 

NEW! Students enrolled in the NCCER HVAC program can now earn the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certification. With successful completion of the program and the HVAC Level One certification, the additional EPA certification provides a competitive advantage in the labor market as it equips students with the essential knowledge of laws, regulations, and standards associated with refrigerant handling, thus reducing accidents and injuries.

Supplies and Fees:  Tuition includes cost of textbook, supplies, and NCCER subscription fee.
 
Occupational Objective: A shortage of qualified HVAC Technicians has created the need for trained personnel in the construction industry. Additionally, the increasing development of HVAC technology causes employers to recognize the importance of continuous education and keeping up to speed with the latest equipment and skills. Hence, technical school training often provides an advantage and a higher qualification for employment.
