NCCER's Carpentry curriculum is designed to help students build general carpentry skills. Students learn to construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials.

Its modules cover topics such as:
  • Orientation to the Trade
  • Building Materials
  • Fasteners and Adhesives
  • Hand and Power Tools
  • Introduction to Construction Drawings
  • Specifications and Layout
  • Flood and Wall Systems
  • Ceiling Joist and Roof Framing
  • Basic Stair Layout
  • Introduction to Building Envelope Systems
Length: 150 Course Hours (105 in-person hours / 45 self-paced online hours)

Prerequisite: NCCER's Core certification
 
Potential Certification: Upon successful completion of all modules in the curriculum, students will receive the National Center for Construction Education & Research Carpentry Level One certification.

Supplies and Fees: Tuition includes cost of textbook, supplies, and NCCER subscription fee.

Occupational Objective: Carpenters make up the largest building trades occupation in the industry and those with all-around skills are in high demand. Carpenters are involved in many kinds of construction activities, from building highways and bridges to installing kitchen cabinets.
