This short-term training program prepares students for the National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER) Carpentry Level 1 Exam. Carpenters make up the largest building trades occupation in the industry and those with all-around skills are in high demand. Carpenters are involved in many kinds of construction activities, from building highways and bridges to installing kitchen cabinets. Carpenters construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials.
This 9-module program covers content such as: Orientation to the Trade; Building Materials, Fasteners, and Adhesives; Hand and Power Tools; Introduction to Construction Drawings, Specifications, and Layout; Floor Systems; Wall Systems; Ceiling Joist and Roof framing; Basic Stair Layout; Introduction to Building Envelope Systems

Potential Certifications: Upon successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to take the National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER) Carpentry Level One Exam.
Tuition: $2,349 Full Price; $783 FastForward WCG Price
FastForward Workforce Credential Grant (WCG) pays 2/3 of the cost of tuition: You pay 1/3 of tuition upon enrollment; the Commonwealth of Virginia pays 1/3 upon successful completion of the class; the final 1/3 is paid by the Commonwealth of Virginia when you earn the credential.
In addition to receiving grant funding, you may qualify for other funding assistance programs to receive additional tuition assistance.
Supplies and Fees: Tuition includes cost of textbooks, supplies, NCCER Core - Introductory Craft Skills exam registration fee, as well as a $50 credential attainment incentive.
