FastForward WCG Program: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant



Certified Clinical Medical Assistants (CCMAs) are a vital part of clinical patient care. This short-term training program prepares students for the National Healthcareer Association’s Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) Exam. Whether you want to work in a doctor’s office or a large hospital system, becoming a CCMA with NHA shows that you are knowledgeable and ready to be a valued member of a healthcare team.

Prerequisite: GED or High School Diploma.
 
Corequisite: CPR Training / Certification.
 
Potential Certifications: Upon successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to take the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam.
 
Tuition Assistance:
 
FastForward Workforce Credential Grant (WCG) pays 2/3 of the cost of tuition: You pay 1/3 of tuition upon enrollment; the Commonwealth of Virginia pays 1/3 upon successful completion of the class; the final 1/3 is paid by the Commonwealth of Virginia when you earn the credential.
 
Must enroll by December 14! Re-Employing Virginians (REV) initiative will provide scholarships to eligible applicants that are unemployed or underemployed due to COVID-19 and enroll in a high-demand workforce education program at one of Virginia’s Community Colleges. Call 276.656.0260 to enroll today!

Virginia Ready initiative provides registered VA Ready Scholars a $1,000 Credential Achievement Award upon obtaining the final credential in selected training programs in the following sectors: computer and cyber, healthcare and manufacturing/skilled trades. If you are currently unemployed, you are eligible to become a VA Ready Scholar.  Apply to become a Virginia Ready Scholar!
 
Supplies and Fees: Tuition includes cost of textbooks, NHA online prep package and exam registration fee, as well as a $50 credential attainment incentive.
 
Financial Requirements: Tuition does not include the cost of program-required CPR certification training.
 
Employment Outlook: According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS), employment of medical assistants is expected to grow 23 percent from 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations, which are expected to grow around 7 percent. Because CCMAs are trained to perform so many different tasks, they are in great demand in the workforce. Having a nationally accredited certification, like the CCMA, can help you stand out. Certification may also be required or preferred for certain job opportunities in the profession. Many organizations are now offering career laddering opportunities for medical assistants with elevated responsibilities and pay. Elevated roles may include those of a scribe, health coach, patient navigator, population health manager and patient care coordinator.
