This four-level program covers the concepts technicians need to safely install, maintain, and troubleshoot HVACR systems. Level 1 introduces basic HVACR theories and industry practices, covering topics like heating, cooling, and air distribution systems.

Topics covered include the following:
  • Introduction to HVACR
  • Trade Mathematics
  • Basic Electricity
  • Introduction to Heating
  • Introduction to Cooling
  • Air Distribution Systems
  • Basic Copper and Plastic Piping Practices
  • Soldering and Brazing
  • Basic Carbon Steel Piping Practices
Format: Hybrid (face-to-face, supplemented with online learning.

Length: 125 Course Hours (91 face-to-face / 34 online)

Prerequisite:  NCCER Core certification

Potential Certifications:  Upon successful completion of all modules in the curriculum, students will receive the National Center for Construction Education & Research HVAC Level 1 certification. Students also have the opportunity to earn the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certification, providing a competitive advantage in the labor market as it equips students with the essential knowledge of laws, regulations, and standards associated with refrigerant handling, thus reducing accidents and injuries.

Supplies and Fees:  Tuition includes cost of textbook, supplies, and NCCER subscription fee.
 
Occupational Objective: HVAC technicians are skilled professionals responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing residential, commercial, and industrial heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems. Career paths may include HVAC technician, HVAC installer, HVAC engineer, HVAC energy auditor, and HVAC building automation specialist.
