This program introduces students to essential construction and manufacturing skills, the foundation of all craft programs. Successful completion of the Core curriculum is a prerequisite for any Level One craft certificate from NCCER. Core certification lays the groundwork for students to pursue an advanced training program in a specialty area like carpentry, electrical, heavy equipment operations, HVAC, plumbing, or power line worker.
Its modules cover topics such as:
- Basic Construction Site Safety
- Introduction to Construction Math
- Introduction to Hand Tools
- Introduction to Power Tools
- Introduction to Construction Drawings
- Basic Communication Skills
- Basic Employability Skills
- Introduction Material Handling
Length: 75 Course Hours (56 in-person / 19 online)
Potential Certification: Upon successful completion of all modules in the curriculum, students will receive the National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER) Core: Introduction to Basic Construction Skills certification.
