This program covers the fundamental aspects of power line worker to include safety, electrical theory, climbing techniques, aerial framing and rigging, and operating utility service equipment. Power line workers install, remove, maintain, and repair high and low voltage distribution lines and associated equipment and facilities.

Its modules cover topics such as:

  • Climbing Wooden Poles
  • Climbing Structures Other Than Wood
  • Tools of the Trade
  • Aerial Framing and Associated Hardware

  • Setting and Pulling Poles
  • Trenching, Excavating, and Boring Equipment
  • Introduction to Electrical Test Equipment
Length: 320 Course Hours

Prerequisite: NCCER Core and NCCER Power Industry Fundamentals certifications

  • Power Line CDL Class A Endorsement
Potential Certifications: Students who successfully complete this program will receive the National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER) Power Line Worker Level 1 certification.

Tuition: $4,500 Full Price; $1,500 FastForward WCG Price; $0 G3 Price


Supplies and Fees: Tuition includes cost of textbook, supplies, and NCCER subscription fee.

Occupational Objective: This one-level Power Line Worker curriculum is the foundational level for three different training pathways: Power Line Worker: Distribution, Power Line Worker: Substation, and Power Line Worker: Transmission.
