NCCER Carpentry Level 1: Carpentry Foundations

This four-level program provides a comprehensive foundation in carpentry skills, covering various aspects of the craft. Level 1 focuses on basic carpentry skills, including orientation to the trade, building materials, hand and power tools, and introduction to construction drawings and specifications.

Its modules cover topics such as:
  • Orientation to the Trade
  • Building Materials, Fasteners, and Adhesives
  • Hand and Power Tools
  • Introduction to Construction Drawings, Specifications, and Layout
  • Flood Systems
  • Wall Systems
  • Ceiling Joist and Roof Framing
  • Introduction to Building Envelope Systems
  • Basic Stair Layout
Length: 160 Course Hours (116 face-to-face / 44 online)

Prerequisite: NCCER's Core certification.
 
Potential Certification: Students who successfully complete all modules in the curriculum will receive the National Center for Construction Education & Research Carpentry Level One certification.
 
Tuition: $2,349 Full Price; $783 FastForward WCG Price

Supplies and Fees: Tuition includes cost of textbook, supplies, and NCCER subscription fee.

Occupational Objective: Carpenters make up the largest building trades occupation in the industry and those with all-around skills are in high demand. Carpenters construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials.
